The Chinese economy is the world's second largest, its system operates as a socialist market economy that includes state-owned companies (SOEs) and mixed-ownership firms, as well as a substantial domestic private sector and openness to international corporations.
China is the largest trading nation in the world and plays a prominent role in international trade, it is the world's largest exports of goods, it is also the world's manufacturing leader, producing about half of the world's steel, and agriculture is the second greatest contribution to China's GDP.
COVID-19 has disrupted the normalization of China's economic growth, the lockdowns have impacted negatively on the economy, and weakened the secondary sectors and services.
Bank of China
The People's Bank of China (PBoC) is China's central bank, the PBoC serves several roles, including monetary policy and fiscal control.
China's official currency is the Chinese Yuan Renminbi (CNY) which means "people's money" and is one of the world's most traded currencies. Renminbi is the name of the currency, while yuan is referred to the currency unit.
Interest Rate of China
The People's Bank of China (PBoC) declared in 2019 the Loan Prime Rate (LPR) as the new lending standard for new bank loans to families and enterprises, thereby replacing the central bank's one-year lending rate as the new lending benchmark (PBOC). The rate is determined by a weighted average of loan rates provided by 18 commercial banks to the national interbank finance.
