United States Redbook YoY
In the United States, the Johnson Redbook Index is a sales-weighted index that measures the growth in same-store sales from one year to the next in a sample of large general merchandise stores that represents around 9,000 businesses. Sales in stores that have been open for at least 12 months are referred to as same-store sales. According to the index's monetary worth, it outperforms the similar 'official retail sales statistic collected and reported by the United States Department of Commerce by more than 80%. Using retailer performance estimates collected and interpreted by Redbook, the Index is compiled and published. It is these estimations that are combined into the Index and its sub-groups, which are weighted according to sales. Weeks are retail weeks (from Sunday to Saturday), and they are evenly distributed throughout the month.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the USD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the USD.

U.S. Consumer Confidence Rebounds Much More Than Expected In May
A report released by the Conference Board on Tuesday showed a substantial improvement by U.S. consumer confidence in the month of May. The Conference Board said its consumer confidence index spiked to 98.0 in May after plunging to a downwardly revised 85.7 in April.

With orders for transportation equipment pulling back sharply, the Commerce Department released a report on Tuesday showing a steep drop by new orders for U.S. manufactured durable goods in the month of April. The Commerce Department said durable goods orders tumbled by 6.3 percent in April after surging by a downwardly revised 7.6 percent in March.
